2nd Annual RAB Memorial Blade-B-Q

With the move out to CA. Things got a little delayed. But the Blade-B-Q finally went down and it was another great success. It was a first time at Pedlow for some skaters, and it was another day at the office for others; everyone can agree that it was an amazing session though. The crew utilized everything but the high ledge, and made the most out of it all for sure. And when they needed a break, the grill was fired up all afternoon. I want to thank everyone for coming out, and for those of you that missed it, be sure to plan for next June. It's well worth the trip.

"One of the greatest things about our community is the common bond we all share. There’s a brotherhood that exists within our unique passion that many people never have the opportunity to experience. The energy that is created in the midst of an intense session is something that cannot be described in words properly, but somewhere in between the blood, sweat, falls and hi-fives, you are exposed to a deeper and more honest side of the people who you are sharing it with. Almost instantaneously, you feel like close friends with a person you may have just met, or like family with those who you’ve known for a while. The truth is, we are a family. And like a family, we laugh together, celebrate together, come together for one another and when the time calls for it, we take care of each other. We lost a brother this weekend. Those of us who have had the pleasure of knowing him will miss him more than words can describe. His passion, attitude and skating was nothing short of immaculate. It is an unspeakable loss for his family, friends, NYC, blading and the world. If you have had the pleasure to meet him once, or witness his skating, then you know what I mean. His energy was overwhelmingly positive at all times. He will be missed terribly. During these horribly rough times that his family is facing right now, we need to once again come together as a community and show our support. With everything that his family has been through this week, the last thing we want for them to worry about is funeral costs. Please join us in showing your support for our brother. We will be having a fundraiser memorial session sometime this week in NYC to honor his memory and raise some money for his family expenses, but to those of you who are not in NYC or will not be able to make it, we’re urging you to show your support by donating. Success in Oakland. Brian Freeman and his crew launched what is sure to become an annual tradition with this weekend's inaugural Oakland Blade Jam. Bringing together a gritty city skateboard park, the local hardware store and countless volunteers and contributions, the OBJ went down without any visible hitches showing that with the right mix of perseverance and vision bladers can rally their communities to achieve blade-friendly goals. With Shredweiser and the Bay Area locals repping hard, the We Are One crew rolled in from SLC, ERod and Mike Obedoza popped up from Long Beach, and pieces of the Valo posse came through from Santa Ana. Even Carson Starnes and Chris Smith from Georgia. We're happy to report the travel was not in vain as BFree & Co's hard work paid off -- the contest showed the crowd great blading and ended with David Sizemore displaying his eye for the seemingly impossible. Along the way many sweet maneuvers were put down, and we managed to catch a couple. Check out ONE @ Oakland Blade Jam.

"In March I twisted my ankle pretty bad and was out for a while. Then in April i got the new remz skate - HR 1.3 and just couldn't wait to skate, but i had to wait. So in May i was finally able to start skate, so every time we went to a skate park we got some clips, nothing too serious. I was planning to put together small recovery edit, but it turned out to be much longer. So i put together all the footage and it came to be pretty long park edit. All i can say is that i'm fully back on blades and rippin hard now.
