Did He Just Do That?!?

So I have been frequenting the Message Boards recently and there is always a lot of useless stuff being thrown up there. But I did come across this video post, from Vimeo, of a kid throwing down some amazing tricks on a POS rail in his garage.

The one thing about this video that blew my mind was the Citric Unity (or Citric Tabernacle?; the debate is still going on which it would be...) that the kid drops at the 20 second mark of the edit.

The trick is just bonkers! You have to check it out for yourself. Enjoy.

Medford Grindbox Edit up on YouTube

So here's another edit I was working on. I kept this one a lot shorter so don't worry about that. These are some shots from a session I had at the Medford, MA skatepark over the weekend. I was tooling around on the grindbox to get a feel for my new boots - TRS Point-8's - that I picked up on the AMall message board.

They seem to be working great so far. They offer great support but allow for enough movement for topsides and negatives. I am loving them

Enjoy, and if you like what you see subscribe to my channel on YouTube so you will always be notified when new videos are posted.

Skatepark FAQ’s: Vol. 2

In Skatepark FAQ’s: Vol. 1, I talked about the “Can you do this trick?” question that I get all the time at parks. The question that almost always follows that one is “Are you sponsored?”

I always thought this was a funny question, because why would a sponsored skater be at a small park like Salem or Beverly? But I soon realized that there are varying degrees of sponsorship.

In about 2003, I was sponsored by Oddity Activewear; they were a very-small clothing company based out of the Boston area. For my participation with Oddity, I received a few tee-shirts, a used pair of Deshi skates, and my name in Daily Bread magazine.

Overall it was a great deal. If I ever had a problem with my skates, the kid in charge of Oddity would get me new parts. But none of this changed how, why, or where I skated. It was just a novelty, and when the company folded without notice to us rollers, it just became an interesting story to tell and a couple shirts to wear skating.

So now when I am asked the sponsorship question during my sessions I have an interesting response. “Yeah I was sponsored, they gave me this tee-shirt.”

New Video from Skate Sessions

After many hours of shooting and editing we have finally completed the fifth Skate Sessions park edit. This video chronicles four sessions in four days at the Beverly, MA skatepark. It is also the first to include a dedicated crash section.
